Transform your gifts and magic into a killer business bio that gets noticed and sparks connections.

THIS WILL BE THE MOST IMPORTANT PIECE OF COPY YOU'LL EVER WRITE.
I'm not kidding around. Your business bio is how you:

-Connect with your dream clients
-Communicate what your work is all about
-Introduce yourself to the world.
-Make a fantastic first impression.

But if your bio sounds something like this:
I help women take growth-related actions so that they can increase their revenue and opportunities.

Or this:

I want to bring you back to authenticity and peace. To remind you of your true powers.

......no one understands what you do.

I mean, in plain words, can you explain to me what these people do and why we should hire them?

No?

Me neither. It's not clear. And how sad is that?

I think it is super sad that so many talented, gifted, ambitious, and kick-ass women are unable to talk about their work in a relatable and meaningful way. Instead, their work and expertise are buried under 6 feet of jargon, vagueness, and general statements.

And this is why I created this two-part workshop.

The golden rule is: people should understand within 5 seconds what you do and who your work is for.

Sounds impossible?

Not anymore!

If you want to write a business bio that makes it:

a) Super easy to answer the question: what do you do?

b) Super easy for people to understand what you do and hire you

. . . .keep reading.

(Psst . . .  if you absolutely adore using words like integrity, authenticity, power, and 'true' self', by all means, keep them. For some people it works, it all depends.)

NO MORE VAGUE, FORGETTABLE BIOS!
If you wonder what a kick-ass, specific bio looks like, here are some examples:
1) I work with people who haaa-ate promoting their businesses. I show them how to get more publicity + sales — while making every step feel like a total guilty pleasur
2) I help widowed moms love life again--without forcing gratitude, thinking positively, or reading more grief books.
You see it, right? These bios hit all the right points. We understand who it's for, what they do, and what results to expect.
It's the kind of bio that makes our clients feel seen, heard and understood.
It also makes it clear who our work is not for.

It's a clear YES or NO.
Clear is kind.
Kind is clear.
This option is available for you as well.
(And no, you don't have to tell me all the reasons why you think you are the exception to this. I have heard ALL the excuses before. And BTW. Those excuses? That's the voice of your inner critic.)
Moving on.
This two-part workshop is a dream come true for people who:
  • Find it hard to reduce their magic into words.
  • Want to work with 'everyone.'
  • Wear many hats.
  • Have an existential crisis about who their clients are.
  • Have a hard time seeing what makes them unique and special.
  • Are done fucking around with jargon, coach-speak, and vague language.

If that is you, come closer because, honestly, it is nice to be able to talk about what you do without feeling uncomfortable and getting into that weird explain-y mode.

Because if you can't express what you do, you can wave goodbye to:

  • pitching yourself to be a speaker at your dream events
  • asking people to collaborate
  • promoting yourself with ease and joy
  • connecting with your intended audience
  • talking about what you do without feeling like a weirdo.
Dream with me for a moment and imagine these epic wins:

Imagine being at a party and someone asks you, 'So, what do you do?' Instead of gulping down your wine and looking for the nearest exit, the words roll off your tongue and you land a six-figure contract. (Happened to a client of mine.)

Or imagine someone coming across your ABOUT ME page where you have written that one of your favorite TV shows is Gilmore Girls. Based on that fact alone they hire you. (That actually happened to me.)

Picture wanting to be a guest on the podcast you listen to obsessively every week, and because you have such an awesome bio already written up, firing off an email and pitching yourself is a breeze.

Is it your turn to write a killer bio? I hope so!
Here is how:

Working Girl is a self-study joy-ride with me as your guide. You'll learn everything you need to know about how to write a business bio that draws in your best-fit clients and creates a lasting first impression.
So what will you learn?
The power of not being everyone's cup of tea. If you talk to everyone, you talk to no one. So who are your people, exactly? That's what you'll find out. And this--just to be clear--has nothing to do with coming up with a perfect niche or trying to imagine some abstract group of clients. It's about inviting the right people in and ignoring the rest.
The magic of being specific. By getting specific, clients, opportunities, ideas, and insights will appear out of thin air, as if by magic. Plus, getting specific makes promoting and talking about your work ridiculously fun and easy, even if you think, 'I'm not good at this marketing stuff.'
The hidden benefits of emotional risks. There are no shortcuts to success, but if there is one thing that speeds up the process, it's taking emotional risks.  Example: Saying you're a mind-body coach is nice and easy. It sounds lovely. However, owning that you're passionate about women having better orgasms makes your inner critic see red. It feels too risky. 'I can't say that!' If you want your dream clients to find you, that's exactly what you have to say.

Edit like a pro: I'll give you a handful of easy and effective editing tools that make it a no-brainer to understand what's missing from your bio and how to fix it. These editing tools include: finding your vibe, echoing your clients, and the Hollywood trick that helps your bio pack a punch.
All of this and more is rolled into two 90-minute sessions + bonuses.

Hi! I'm Inger Kenobi. People often have a hard time distilling their gifts and talents into words. I don't. I am an expert at helping entrepreneurs express what they do in a way that makes their dream clients go, 'It's like you're inside my head!'

But don't just take my word for it. Here are some examples:

Instead of saying, 'I help people become more visible,' they say, 'I help people get on TV.' Instead of saying, 'I'm a beauty technician,' they say, 'I help women of all ages love their faces without Botox and fillers.' Instead of saying, 'I'm a witch and sacred healer,' they say, 'I cure insomnia with herbs and meditation.'

Can you spot the pattern? These people have gone from vague to specific. From stating their title to highlighting results. Can't wait to see what you do with this!

Client love:

-I really liked how you gave me real hands-on help. I was actually learning and getting better at a skill in real time rather than just talking about it and never have the ability to implement it on my own.

-That was so fun!!! I don’t know why, but I felt like I was giggling the entire time.

-Thank you so much Inger, again you're so endlessly full of ideas and knowledge and lively inspiration. Great workshop. Really helpful for me right now (comes at the right moment) and look forward to fine-tuning my bio.

-This was awesome! I love thinking about my business as a party or a gathering place, and I already have the answer to it!

-Another great session! The plug-ins were really helpful!

- Thanks so much for being so informative and inspiring. I learned more than I bargained for.

Some common questions.

What do you think is the biggest mistake people make when talking about their work?
Time and time again I meet vibrant, funny, multi-dimensional people with sleeve tattoos and a wicket sense of humor, but when it comes to writing or talking about their work, it's like their personality shuts down and some bland robot takes over. So to answer your question, not being themselves is the biggest mistake. Too much jargon. Too much watering themselves down. Too much sounding like everyone else.

Why is it so important to have a good bio?
I think of it as an act of kindness. You're being kind to your clients because now they know what you do and why they should hire you. You're being kind to yourself because you'll find it SO MUCH EASIER to promote your work and talk about yourself in new settings. And also, it's just common sense.

What makes a bio irresistible?
Good question! I think it's irresistible when you dare to turn people away. For example, a friend of mine is doing a dark retreat. There will be no windows in the cabin. No light. No contact with other people. No distractions. This place has a two-year waiting list. People who want to do this retreat really want to do it. For other people, this is their worst nightmare. When you dare to be so clear and so specific that you're someone's worst nightmare, bingo!

Why are you so passionate about this?
This might be a huge generalization, but I think most women undersell and undervalue themselves. They don't give themselves great titles. They talk about 'running my little business,' and 'oh, I'm just a freelance journalist.' You are never a JUST. There is nothing little about your business. I think writing a killer business bio and being able to talk about what you do, has the power to bring all your talents, gifts, dreams, and goals into focus.

If I need help with the rest of my copy, can I hire you privately?
Yes! I love working with people one-on-one. Especially entrepreneurs who have outgrown their website and want to put more personality into their copy.

What if I take this workshop and become even more confused than I am now?
Ha, yes! That can totally happen, and I get this question a lot. My answer is, 'If your spouse was cheating on you, wouldn't you rather know now than later?' The prerequisite for writing a specific bio is that you know who you want to work with, or what kind of problems you love to solve for people. When people have bios like, 'I help women remove money blocks so they can receive more,' it sounds like they know who they are working with and why, but when I ask for specific examples, or more specific language, that's when the confusion that was already there rises to the surface.

And I think that is a good thing. I'd rather you discover that you're confused now, not four months from now. Now you can do something about it. Now you can sit with it. Now you can get clear. Now you'll be handed the tools. One of my clients told me, 'I'm realizing I haven't hit the essence of what I do.' Great! Now we're getting somewhere.

So to answer your question: You might get more confused, but you'll also have the tools to work past your confusion. And that's a powerful thing.
