THE GREAT INDOORS |
PRIVATE IN-PERSON DECLUTTERING SERVICES
Live in a home that brings out the very best in you.
Instant decluttering help for people who are drowning in stuff or feel overwhelmed by every little sock and tea-towel. 'But it was a gift!'
Or maybe you're torn between keeping all your heirlooms and living in a more zen-like environment.

I hear you! And don't worry, help is near, Together we'll create a decluttering strategy that will make you go, 'This was easier than I thought!'

"I'm walking around with a spring in my step!"
Most people think that decluttering is going to be such a boring and emotional time-suck that they put it off forever and ever.
Luckily, there is another way.
Imagine feeling empowered and light while sorting through your belongings.
Imagine getting rid of aunt Olga's cat figurines, without feeling like an ungrateful monster.
Imagine a decluttering strategy that has nothing to do with, 'Does this spark joy?'
Before I worked with Inger, my only solution to my clutter was, 'I hope the house burns down.' Now I can sort through my things without spinning out in overwhelm. I even got rid of my spare funeral dress and other just-in-case items. Victory!

Which one is you?
1.
You have a beautiful home, but your interests have changed and the family situation has changed, but you're surrounded by stuff that doesn't reflect any of that. Where to even begin? Plus, another big hurdle is how to get the stuff out of the house, not just dumping it in the hallway.
2.
You're moving and realise you don't want to bring all your stuff with you to the new place. The hang up? Every single item is filled with stories and memories. Can you really let them go? (Yes, and it will be easier than you think. )
3.
Your mom died and now you have to go through all of her stuff. It's both heartbreaking and hard. You find yourself ping-ponging between wanting to keep it all or throwing it all away. Can you find a middle-ground that will bring you peace? Yes, of course you can.

Maybe your situation isn't exactly like that, but regardless:
You want to leave all your decluttering drama behind and create a home that brings out the best in you and your loved ones.
Fantastic news, because this is exactly what's in the cards here.
Who am I to be trusted with your home and belongings?
Hi, I'm Inger Kenobi, and I've moved over twenty times. My homes have included a cute vintage trailer named Terry, a garden flat in North London, an old gold-mining cabin in California, and a small house by the sea in Norway. I currently live in the Cotswolds where the view is to die for.

Wherever I end up, I'm passionate about creating a home that makes it easy to do the things I want to do. Also, I don't want to spend all my time looking for things or sorting through stuff, so I tend to declutter more than most people.

However, decluttering is not about becoming some frantic minimalist or having to be hyper organised. It's about creating an environment that feels like home. Like you. A place that reflects your values, interests, sense of beauty, and personal style.

Plus, we're not who we were two years ago or ten years ago, so it makes sense that we outgrow our stuff and feel the urge to create room for something new.

Do you really need to keep all the kitchen gadgets you never use? No.

Can you create a reading nook? Yes.

Can your home become a living breathing thing filled with beauty bombs, fresh energy and flair? Of course. Up to you!

What you will learn:

The magic of the “Starting with what feels like a no brainer."
-
People tend to attack the most triggering stuff first (like grandpa's jacket from the war) , but I'll help you identify what feels easy (and dare I say it: FUN!) to start with in order to create momentum and real progress. Most people start with tea-towels. . .

The often overlooked power move.
-
It's common for all your unwanted belongings to end up in the hallway or out in the garage. Not good enough! We'll make an exit plan for all your bags and boxes. Otherwise you'll rummage through them again and again. Waste. Of. Time.

The joy of chunking it.
-
You don't have to do everything all at once. We'll chunk it and break everything into manageable steps. Trajectory is more important than speed.

Intention, intention, intention.
-
Someone once said, 'clutter is just delayed decisions.' Fine, but what makes questions like, 'Do I really need five gravy-boats?" near impossible to answer, is the fact that we've never been thought how to be INTENTIONAL around our things. There is an art to dealing with things without being swept away by all our thoughts and feelings. You will learn that art.

-
And. . . . we will meet every challenge and hurdle with humour, joy, and kindness.

Ready to do some outstanding decluttering?

Home is where the magic is:

Even if you think, 'I've never been any good at dealing with stuff', getting intentional about your living space will help you discover:

– The things you truly treasure

- The experiences you want to have

– How you want to FEEL in your home.
– The interests that are hiding in plain sight

What does your current space encourage? What do you do there? What do you want to do? What would you regret NOT using your home for?

While you ponder those questions, I'll map out the practical details.
ALL THE PRACTICAL DETAILS

Bye, bye clutter. Hello, beautiful home.
Lasting results of this work.
1. You no longer feel trapped by things you no longer like, use, or need.
2. You save money, because you're now less likely to buy things you know you don't really need or will end up using, even if you sort of like it in the store.
3. You save time. After decluttering, you know where to find things, you'll spend less time taking care of things and moving them from room to room. Less stuff also means less dusting, cleaning, folding, and repairing.
4. You'll feel lighter.
5. You'll stop holding onto things out of guilt and obligation.
6. Your home represents the person you are here and now, not who you used to be or who you think you might become in the future. (So yes, feel free to throw out that pottery wheel you've never used.)
There is so much good news here!
SOME COMMON QUESTIONS:

Do you help with tidying up and organising?
While there will always be some organising involved, I'm not there to help you fold your linen or pair your socks. I there to help you create a strategy that makes it doable for you to let go of all the things you no longer want, but at the same time feel you need to hold onto until you die.

What if I'm interested in Swedish death-cleaning?
Great! I can totally help with that. You DO NOT need to hoard things in the hope that future generations might want them. And yes, if you don't want to pass on the burden of decluttering to your loved ones, let's get started now.

Can we do this work online?
Absolutely! I've helped individuals and groups declutter via Zoom, and it's always highly effective. We talk about what you want to accomplish, we make a plan, you execute the plan, and then we evaluate and plan for next steps in our next session. The online option is perfect for people who live further away. (I'm in Amberley, Gloucestershire.)

What if I need more than four session?
Then we schedule new ones! I like to start with four, just to get a lay of the land, and then we'll take it from there.
